'Teen Vogue' is version of the infamous 'Vogue' magazine, except is based for teenage girls. The magazine is published within the U.S and releases an issue each month.
Within the magazine 'Teen Vogue', they usually focus on Celebrities, fashion, latest entertainment and current affairs to do with what has been going on within the media. As the magazine is based and aimed for teenage girls, the celebrities are often either teenagers themselves, young adults or just in general strong females who play major roles within media.
How teenage girls are being represented with the Teen Vogue magazine is that they are teenagers who go to parties, are focused on the latest styles and current affairs within media. How we know this is by looking at the front covers. On the front covers, we are shown that teenage girls are represented as all 'party-ers' as it says how they now have the ultimate look for when you go partying, making it seem as if all teenage girls go, or get invited to parties.
Another thing they have represented teenage girls as is 'flawless'. With teen vogue, they have used Photoshop to make all their 'cover girls' completely flawless, beautiful and even to make them look thin. This then gives out the idea to all teenage girls who view these photos that these photo-shopped teenage girls and woman are what 'true beauty' look like, when really it is an unattainable beauty. This then negatively affects teenage girls as it gives them the idea and belief that they should be flawless and just as beautiful when in reality they would be unable to become as flawless as it unrealistic.
This leads to more and more teenage girls becoming self-conscious because the girls within the magazines have given them unrealistic expectations and views of true beauty. When the magazine photoshops out flaws, airbrushes skin and makes the girls thinner, they send only negative messages as they are not showing that everyone, including the celebrities shown on the cover and within the magazine, have flaws. Instead, teenage girls are being influenced by these images to believe that flaws are not a part of beauty and in order to be beautiful you must have unblemished and perfectly shaped features. It also sends out the idea that all these celebrities are completely 'perfect' in a sense, so when they may see a photo in a magazine of one of these celebrities where they are perhaps not wearing make up, may be not realise that actually its what these people naturally look like. These representations of these woman and especially teenage girls within these magazines then give society an unrealistic view on how they look and dress.

As Teen Vogue often uses celebrities on there cover that are actually older, around about in their 20's meaning the are no longer going through 'that awkward teenage stage', unlike most readers who are teenage girls who may still be growing and changing. This representation may then, once again, make teenage girls feel rather insecure. This then leads to them being pulled in and influenced by what is also being shown on the teen vogue cover pages. For example, on the Teen Vogue cover on the right, it says on the top left cover that inside shows "Your hottest hair & makeup. 25 looks to rock." Teenage girls would especially pulled into this as in order to gain the unattainable beauty they are being shown, they then believe by using these make up tutorials or looks that this will get them closer to looking this way.
Another aspect with these representations within the magazine 'Teen Vogue', is the use of the colour pink. Throughout the history of media, pink has been used to represent females, especially teenage girls, within media. In recent times though pink hasn't just been used to show femininity, but has also been used to show the tough side of females and demonstrate how they have taken this stereotype of girls being associated with pink and used it stand up for females. They have used the colour pink to demonstrate feminism.
Although, how 'Teen Vogue' uses the colour pink is often by more showing the feminine side of the celebrities, representing them as perhaps more younger and more innocent to appeal to the readers. It doesn't show the woman or girls as perhaps 'tough' and reinforces the stereotype that teenage girls are 'pretty in pink' which makes teenage girls seems as if they don't get stuck into things and perhaps aren't as hard working as they would rather be 'pretty in pink'.
All in all, how the magazine 'Teen Vogue' represents females, teen celebrities and teenage girls has definite affects on the teenage girls that read this magazine. The use of Photoshop and advertising, as well as how the celebrities and teenage girls have been made to look, all has affects on teenage girls.
